ARTISTS AGE 8 YEARS AND UP

 

ART CAMP for Kids "CELEBRATE CULTURES"

August 9 through the 13th (Mon - Fri) 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon $65.00 plus $10.00 materials fee. All materials provided! Explore the lives of children of many cultures through art, music, language, costumes. We’ll visit: China, Japan, Africa and more! An end of the week art show for family and friends featuring the works of the camp artists!

 

DRAWING, PAINTING, …AND MORE!!! Tuesday mornings  10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (held in downstairs class area) $55.00 for all 6 sessions  All materials provided! Session I ($30.00 for 3 classes)

 “POP ART PRINTS”   Instructor: Pat Majcher June 21 (Monday) – June 24 (Thursday) 9 to 12 A.M

$60.00

Create your original design by carving into an acrylic block, rolling on ink with a brayer and producing several unique prints.

                                     

Adult Classes

"BEGINNING OIL PAINTING"  Instructor: Susan Kiren

June 28 (Monday)- July 1 (Thursday)  9-12 A.M.  $60.00 Starting with a simple oil palette and ending with a still life. Demonstrations and exercises included with emphasis on highlights and shadows.

“BOWL ME OVER”     Instructor: Alexis Dillon July 12 (Monday) – July 16 (Thursday)*  9 to 12 A.M.  $60.00

Explore techniques in making hand built and wheel-thrown bowls. Beginner and experienced potters will be taught at their own level.   * a day for glazing will be scheduled at a later time

“CLASSICAL DRAWING FOR PAINTERS  Instructor: Marian Ash July 19 (Monday) – July 22 (Thursday)  9 to 12 A.M.  $60.00 Learn basic skills including value and composition. Improve your drawing abilities to enhance your painting skills.

ADULT DAY CLASSES

“DRAWING AND PAINTING”    Instructor: Cathy Rosensteel Tuesday Morning 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Weekly sessions- beginning June 1 $15 each session + $3.00 studio fee Drawing and painting studio with lots of individual attention for all levels of experience and interest. “ONE STROKE PAINTING”    Instructor: Pam Naples Wednesday Morning 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Weekly sessions- beginning June 2 $15 each session + $3.00 studio fee For beginning to intermediate painters. “PAINTING IN OIL OR PASTEL”   Instructor: Nina Stahlberg Thursday Morning 10:00 am to 1:00 pm  Weekly sessions- beginning June 3 $15 each session + $3.00 studio fee Join this small intimate class and paint your favorite subject. ADULT EVENING CLASSES

“SCULPTING PORTRAITS”    Instructor: Jan Barone Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm   8 sessions- beginning June 3 $105 for non-members  $94 for members Instruction will be on sculpting a portrait bust. Work from the model and photos. Clay and firing fee of $20 collected at first class. An additional fee of $18 for an armature if needed.

“WEDNESDAY NIGHT PAINTERS”     Monitor: Peg Panasiti 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm   $3.00 fee PER SESSION      Improve your painting skills by hanging out with these fun loving still life painters.

 

WORKSHOPS FOR ADULT, COLLEGE, AND HIGH SCHOOL

“MAGIC STONES” STONE LITHOGRAPHY  Instructor: Renie Pollock Saturday July 10 and Sunday July 11       9:00 am to 4:00 pm

$45 for nonmembers and $40 for GAC members     Additional $10 lab fee Experience the entire process from the grinding of stones, through acid etching and sensitizing stages to printing the image.

“THE BUSINESS OF ART”    Instructor: Bonnie Hoffman Saturday July 17   10:00 am to 12 noon $45 for non members  $40 for members This seminar covers requirements and procedures to follow to declare your art as a business. Discussions include applying for a State Tax Number and how to report earnings plus IRS schedules for small businesses.

ENHANCING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS”   Instructor: Shirleah Kelly 2 Wednesdays  July 14 and July 21 5:30 to 7:00 pm  $35 for nonmembers  $30 for GAC members Do you want to improve your family portraits, vacation and event pictures? This might be the class for you! Use your own film and camera (digital or disposable) July 14: General camera care will be discussed. The focus of this class will be instruction concerning the use of the elements of composition to create a more pleasing photograph. You will learn about the use of Rule of Thirds, Point-of-View, Background Considerations, Framing, Leading Lines, Lighting, and more. A shooting assignment will be given. July 21: The objective of this class will be to critique your photos based on the elements presented in the previous class.  

“THE ART OF FRAMING”     Instructor: Renie Pollock Saturday July 24 and Sunday July 25     9:00 am to 4:00 pm $45 for nonmembers  $40  for members + $10 lab fee Give your art the full archival treatment from mounting through matting, sealing, and framing. OTHER GAC ACTIVITIES

FIGURE DRAWING SESSIONS WITH MODEL    4TH Monday of every month  7 - 10 pm   $8 Fee per session The best way to keep your skills intact. FRIDAY PAINT-INS   11:30 AM - 3 PM   $3 Fee for 3 hours $1 for each additional hour. Monitor: Doreen Currie 724-539-2168 Choose your medium. If using oil, please use odorless thinner. Create while interacting with others..    

DIRECTIONS TO GREENSBURG ART CENTER    From west of Greensburg, take Rt 30 East (Greensburg  Bypass) to Pleasant Unity Exit (Rt 130). At light at end of  ramp, turn right  onto 130, then take immediate left just past  the Sunoco station. Go 1 ½ blocks to GAC on the left.  From east of Greensburg, take Rt 30 West and after passing  Westmoreland Mall, get in the right lane (Business  Greensburg). At second light, turn left onto Rt 130 to Sunoco  station. Turn left immediately at end of Sunoco. Go 1 ½  blocks to GAC on the left.
