Thank you to all those who stepped
forward to help on “SCHOOL OF ARTISTS- Teacher/Student” show. It really does take all of us to keep
things moving and it’s greatly appreciated when you find the time to step in
and help. THANK YOU to Sue Kiren who oversaw all the stages involved in
pulling off such a big exhibit! 2.
WE ARE STILL SEEKING MORE MEMBERS TO
BECOME INVOLVED IN THE FOLLOWING COMMITTEES - Publicity
and Facilities Management. PLEASE
BECOME INVOLVED. WE NEED YOU. 3.
REMINDER - The Greensburg
Garden Center show is scheduled for September 1 through October. It is
non-juried and open to all members as well as the Wednesday night painters
with a $5 fee and 20% commission. 4.
REMINDER
- All interested members - please participate in our “ON A CLEAR
DAY…OR NOT” show. We’d like to have a
wide cross section of members give us their interpretation of this theme and
give the public a really exciting show.
Entry forms are due August 21, receiving is August 21 and 22, 10 am -
4pm. Sign up sheets will be available
at receiving. The entry fee is $15 for 2 pieces. PRIZE MONEY IS $100 First, $75
Second, and $50 Third Place. WE WANT AS MANY MEMBERS AS POSSIBLE
TO BE REPRESENTED! Toni Hajek is the
Coordinator and Renie Pollock is the CoCoordinator. 5.
Our
promotional video is well on it’s way for the shooting process. We’re trying to get as many
classes, preparation of gallery for the new exhibit, reception activities,
and whatever else we can think of that can be gleaned for our internet
presence. Anyone interested in helping with the script or overview of what is
being put together, please contact Renie Pollock by August 5 with your ideas. Editing will begin in September. 6.
Once
again, we’re looking to put together a GAC picnic for our September meeting.
Anyone who would like to be part of the effort, please contact, Alice O’Brien

MEETING: Monday, August 9. The speaker for our August meeting will be Dan
Marsula. He is a well known illustrator for the Pittsburgh Post Gazette and
has won national awards for his watercolors. He has been working in oils
lately, and will demo his oil painting techniques and discuss his recent
subject matter. This will be an opportunity to see a talented artist at work.
We hope that you're able to attend. Currently in the
Rowe Gallery “School of Artists” Teacher – Student Show Teachers AND students to show off examples of your learned artistic concepts while attending a class at the Greensburg Art Center (through August 21, 2010) ROWE GALLERY HOURS Tuesday – Friday, 10 am - 4 pm

- Plein Air Excursions. Just a reminder....each of the
three wall sections in the classroom (gallery side) is
available to rent. For the paltry sum of $20.00, you will be entitled to
display your two dimensional work for a period of four weeks, coinciding
with each gallery show. If you don't have enough work to fill the wall,
you may invite other members to join you, and each pay a portion of the
$20 . This is an excellent opportunity to display more of your art. Anyone
willing to hang a few pieces in the bathroom may do so for FREE. Our bathroom
should be an aesthetically pleasing space as well! To reserve
future wall space, call Alice O'Brien at 724-864-0865 HUMANE SOCIETY OF
WESTMORELAND COUNTY'S ART AUCTION: late September 2010;
Bishop Connare Center, Route 30E, Greensburg. The humane society needs
donations of the following: handmade jewelry, painted items (ceramics,
glassware, and so forth), paintings, etchings, prints, photos in frames,
handmade cards, and craft items. All items should have a value of at least
$25 if being sold in a store. We need donations of single items or small sets
of art. If we get smaller donations (less than $25), we will take them and
