Evelyn Marie Lint writes: "Over 35 years ago, my husband Dave gave me an acrylic paint set for Christmas. Now what was I going to do with that? I had four kids, a house to remodel, and a yard to take care of. Where would I find the time?

"Well, I took a class at the YMCA, joined the Laurel Art Club, and my kids learned to cook. I've been lucky to find local instructors who have the patience to put up with me, starting with Joe Davin and Bill Rockwell of Geibel High School, Sybella Spurgeon of Uniontown, and Joan Croft-Jones and Sue Pollins of Greensburg. I've never had any formal training in art, but I've had workshops with some of the best: Frank Webb, Don Andrews, Zoltan Sabo, Pat Deadman, Tony VanHasselt, and I still take classes from Fred Graff of Ohio.

"I started painting in acrylics, but Sybella Spurgeon got me hooked on watercolors. I also did some printmaking and hand made paper, but don't take my one inch sable brush away.

"I'm a member of the Uniontown Art Club, the Greensburg Art Club and the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society. Currently my work is being shown at The Artist Co-op in Washington and Marie's Gallery & Framing in Hopwood. Yes, that's my shop and gallery. It allows me to buy more brushes."
